Finding and equipping the great runes in Elden Ring is crucial to the progress of a good game. These items give players very important powers and abilities when active and equipped, which makes a big difference in many battles. There are a total of seven great runes that are found after defeating the seven demigod bosses and, in today's article, we'll teach you how to equip a great rune and also where to find each one. Follow along with us to learn how to do it!
Great Rune of Godrick
This is one of the most important runes in the Elden Ring and can be obtained in Castle Tempest after defeating the boss Godrick. Activating this rune is not automatic, but the player needs to follow a few steps to access the effects it can give. You'll need to go to Limgrave's Divine Tower via the bridge that connects it to the castle to begin the process.
To get to this tower, the player must go to a chamber located next to the elevator in the area, then go to the southeast where you will see the bridge. On the bridge there will be enemies who use bows and other mobs to fight until you reach the teleport point that will give you access to the tower. Once there, all you have to do is go to the top and activate the rune. It grants a five-point buff to all the player's attributes.
Great Rune of the Unborn
Unlike the other great runes in the Elden Ring, the Great Rune of the Unborn does not require any ritual to be equipped, nor does it need any kind of activation. The player will receive it as soon as they finish the challenge set by the boss "Rennalla, Queen of the Full Moon".
This boss is located at the Raya Lucaria Academy in the Liurnia region. The rune itself gives the ability to distribute all of the player's character attribute points once again, but for this you need to have a Larval Tear in your inventory.
Great Rune of Radahn
The rune released by Radahn is one of the most difficult to activate of all the major runes in the Elden Ring. Once you've defeated the boss, you need to make your way to the Divine Tower of Caelid, located in the center of Caelid on the north coast. It's important to enter the Tower from the south, jumping over the tree branch on the left after entering the Tower.
Once you have finished climbing the branch, you will see a ladder where there is an enemy and a second ladder on the right. You'll have to go in the direction of the mob, jumping over the broken parts along the way. After eliminating the problem in your path, you'll go through a stone archway and reach another ladder. On this one you'll have to climb up until you find a balcony with a Site of Grace and you'll have to jump towards it. At this point, turn into the corridor on the right until you reach an elevator that will take you to the top of the Tower.
At the top of the Tower you can activate the rune and thus increase your health by 15%, your stamina by 12.5% and also 12.5% in FP. It's a difficult path, but it's well worth following in order to collect and activate all the great runes.
Great Rune of Morgott
After defeating the boss MorgottIf you have it in your possession, you'll be able to access another of the great runes in the Elden Ring: Morgott's Great Rune. Once you have it in your possession, you'll need to activate it and this activation takes place in the Divine Tower of East Altus, located inside the Royal Capital of Leyndell, where Morgott is eliminated.
To do this, start at the bottom of the site, heading northeast until you find an elevator. Climbing up it, you'll come across the Fallen Twins on a bridge and you'll have to face them. After that, head towards the Tower and reach the top where you can activate the rune. This rune increases your maximum HP bar by 25%!
Great Rune of Rykard
Rykard is one of the most difficult bosses in the game, but he also drops one of the best great runes in Elden Ring. Rykard's Great Rune gives the player such great healing power that their energy can be recovered by up to 185 points with each enemy defeated, but for this effect to happen, the rune must be activated.
It is in the Divine Tower of West Altus that the player will be able to make this activation, a Tower that can only be accessed through the Sealed Tunnel that exists in the area of Mount Gelmir. Exploring the tunnel, the player will come across Lord Onyx, who must be defeated. Once past him, all you have to do is make your way to the top of the Tower and the rune will be activated.
Great Rune of Mohg
This is one of the great runes in Elden Ring that helps the most in multiplayer. It gives the user the ability to buff all the creatures they use to invade other players' worlds. It can be activated in exactly the same way as Morgott's rune, at the top of the Divine Tower of East Altus, but to do so you'll need to follow all the Varre quests or use Haligtree's Secret Medallion.
Great Rune of Malenia
Malenia is the hardest boss in the game, so it's not surprising that she drops one of the most powerful runes in Elden Ring. This rune can make the player recover their HP when attacking enemies, healing based on the damage suffered, basically mirroring Malenia's abilities during the battle against her.
After defeating it, the player can head to the Isolated Divine Tower to activate the rune. They can reach it using the Divine Bridge in Leyndell. It is with the teleport portal that the Tower will be accessed, but once at the top the rune will already be activated and ready to be used.
There are still two more runes that will be in the game in the future, but there is no concrete information about them in the game. For now, these are all the seven major runes in Elden Ring and how to activate them. Each one gives a unique ability and together they make the player much stronger during their adventures, as you can see from what each one offers in terms of ability.
